May Update

Our online enrichment program finishes this month. We school year-round (so we can do less on a typical day and take breaks whenever we want/need) so we will continue with our studies but we won't have to submit weekly logs.

Math

Em - finished Beast Academy 5B chapter 4 (Statistics) and is now working on ch 5 Factors. Most days she does a page or 2 out of a practice book (like a Minecraft Multiplication and Division book, or an Australian curriculum called Times Tables) in addition to Beast Academy.

Tom finished School Yourself Geometry at the end of May and has just started School Yourself Algebra as a review. In the Fall, we will probably do Learn Math Fast Geometry as a review.

Science

Em continues her weekly online vet classes.

Tom has been watching reptile videos and is participated in a Curator For aDay program at the Phoenix Herpetological Sanctuary. It was great hands-on learning and he really got to see what it is like to work in a rescue facility. See our YouTube video about his experience.

Language Arts

Em - Em did some 10 for 10 writing practice and is working on the second part of Logic Of English Essentials (finished chapter 10).

Tom - He continues to work with his editing coach to improve his novel. He finished the spring session of his Druidawn writing club.

Travel - An RV trip to Pheonix. We can do most activities in a covid safe way in an RV. See our YouTube video on our trip to Phoenix. Mum and Dad are "fully vaccinated" but kids aren't eligible yet so we have to be thoughtful about our activities. UPdate - To received his first vaccine in May and will be fully vaccinated in June. Em still has to wait until Aug. 26th to get her first shot.

Other:

Em will finish private gymnastics classes this month. They are not offered in the summer.

Em started summer horse-riding lessons (4 so far) and will do 8 sessions spread over the next 12 weeks.

Tom is really enjoying playing Magic The Gathering online with friends.
