Covid quarantine continues and therefore impacts school and friends.

Travel - we finally did some travel. A 3-day camping trip to Northern Colorado in our Trrailmanor trailer. It was great to see some new scenery and hang out (albeit masked) with friends. The kids had the opportunity to go kayaking on a small lake, do an Easter egg hunt, make smores on the campfire, etc. I wanted to test out the camper after it had been winterized and it was great to get out and about. It has inspired a lot of trip planning.

    Math -

Em - She finished Beast Academy 5A and has moved on to 5B. She continues to do the online version with the "guide" (comic book style lessons), videos, and questions.

Tom - He is currently doing 3 days of math per week. One day is high school geometry, one day is a review of algebra, and the other is reading math books (his current book is What's the Point of Math. The last one was Murderous Maths, and the one before was The Math Kit).

    Language Arts

Em - She finished Logic Of English Essentials 1-7 and will start part 2 (Lessons 8-15) tomorrow. She is continuing to write her Diving With Dragons story and is up to chapter 9 of her first draft.

Tom - He is working 4-5 times a week on his novel draft 2. He continues his weekly writing club and editing coaching sessions.

    Technology

Em - Em made a second Minecraft YouTube video and planned out her next Youtube videos with a brainstorming session.

Tom - He is working on his CodaKids programming course and is on week 4 of his Level 2 Photoshop course. He continues to do some pretty amazing things on Minecraft - most recently doing a ton of command programming to develop a collaborative game with a group of local friends.

    Animal Science

Em - Em continues her weekly Vet class. This 10-week session is about cats and dogs. SHe also worked on her Phlebotomy kit.

Tom - He does a variety of activities related to Herpetology. He finished his Herp 2 class. He is currently in the middle of a month-long experiment about acid rain in which he has samples (control and others) of beans in a variety of simulated acid rain experiments (using sulfuric acid for the rain). He is signed up to do an amazing Curator For a Day program at a Herpetology zoo in May. He made a frog skin model out of dessert items.

    Other

Em - She has started private gymnastics classes and is really enjoying them. She gets to pick what she learns and so far it has been a lot of trampolining, tumbling, and a little bit of floor work and beams.

Tom - He has done a few Minecraft competitions.

Tom designed a frog-related board game

    A visit to a farm

    Scuba Diving trial program

Tom celebrated a birthday during quarantine - so an online sleepover.

Weather this time of year is very unpredictable - climbing trees in the sun one day, playing in 2 feet of snow the next.

School work can be colorful and tasty (photography class)

Engineering kits arrive in the mail every month. This one saw Tom building a pinball machine. Other's recently included a printing press and a table tennis game.

Summer was still under quarantine so we didn't do a lot of activities that other summers may have contained. We went hiking each weekend...
