Aug - Sept Update

Math -

Em - Em is up the last chapter in her Horse Lover's Math Curriculum. It turned out to be a much bigger curriculum than I originally thought it would be when I purchased it. I have been very happy with it. It doesn't "teach" the topics (decimals, fractions, etc) but it provides real-word questions to solve, loosely categorized into horse related chapters. So I teach the concepts as we go. We have put Beast Academy on hold until we finish Horse Math. I also want to do another unit before we get back to BA. I want to spend a few weeks with traditional math on paper activities (yes, the dreaded worksheets) to make sure the basic understanding is there.

Tom - we have finished No Nonsense Algebra Chaptes 3-6. We are now reviewing ch 6 before taking the quiz. It is still working out as a curriculum. It has very short lessons with an explanation, examples, and problems to solve. We do 1 topic per school day but only do a handful of the questions. Most of the lessons are done with dad but in Australia it was with me. Tom is doing well with the concept of straight forward, short lessons after asking for this concept for many months. Next month we will do a short worksheet-based unit to make sure the fundamentals are well understood.

This blog was never finished but since we spent 5 weeks of this time in Australia you can check out the blog about Australia.

Summer was still under quarantine so we didn't do a lot of activities that other summers may have contained. We went hiking each weekend...
